Football Preview: Chick-Fil-A Winter Festi-Bowl

SAN MARCOS, CA (11/08/21)- It is the final week of the football season for Palomar, as they face Santa Barbara for the Chick-Fil-A Winter Festi-Bowl game. The Comets are coming off a 47-42-win vs El Camino.

Through ten games, the Comets average 356 yards of offense while giving up 394 yards on defense. The Comets average 31 points a game while giving up 29 points a game.

Comets quarterback Zeke Payne (Rancho Bernardo) is coming off a 28-39, 431 yards 4 touchdowns performance. Tawee Walker (Centennial) leads the running backs group, as he averages 4.6 yards per rush. Brandon Johnson (El Camino) leads the wide receivers group, as he has 33 receptions for 544 yards and 7 touchdowns.

The Comets defense is led by linebacker Vavega Sialoi (Vista), who has 33 tackles, including three tackles for loss. Ricky Davis Jr (Arbor View) has four interceptions to lead the Comets defense. Kicker Landon Ogles (Rancho Bernardo) has made 13 field goal attempts.

On the opposite side of the field, Santa Barbara QB Alex Johnson has hit 94 of 170 passes for 1208 yards and 12 touchdowns. Running back Jerry Martin has 121 carries for 642 yards and 3 touchdowns. Wide receiver Marcus Bellon has 42 receptions for 582 yards and 4 touchdowns.

San Barbara's defense is led by linebacker Zach Schipper, who has 22 tackles. Defensive back Jack Kilpatrick has 27 tackles and 4 interceptions. Kicker Jorge Figueroa has knocked down 11 field goals and 43 extra points.

The Comets look for their sixth win of the season. Kickoff is set for 6 pm at Palomar on Saturday, December 3rd.
