COD (5-4) had a hard time with the Mesa Thuderbirds of Arizona (6-3) and then moved past the host Mt. San Jacinto Eagles (4-5), 3-2.

The Desert 1's team of freshman Grace Abrams (Fountain Hills (AZ) H.S.) and sophomore Katie Alexander (Yucca Valley H.S.) were the only pairs to walk out of the double header unscathed, shooting down both Eagles and the Thunderbirds in straight sets. The Desert 2's team of freshman Briana Delval (Indio H.S.) and freshman Jacqueline Leon (La Quinta H.S.) grabbed a narrow win over the Eagles (21-15, 26-24) and then fell in a narrow defeat in the extra set to the Thunderbirds (21-17, 19-21, 15-12). The Desert 3's team of freshman Joselyn Nunez (Palm Desert H.S.) and freshman Paige Perez (Palm Desert H.S.) also split the double header, knocking off the Eagles (21-14, 21-12), but falling to the Thunderbirds (21-12, 21-13).

The Desert 4's team of freshman Liana Whitley (Palm Desert H.S.) and freshman Kiersten Sinzun-Young (Palmdale Highland) and the Desert 5's team of freshman Denise Lupian (Indio Shadow Hills) and freshman Valerie Rojo (Indio H.S.) both fell in straight sets in both matches.

The next matches for College of the Desert Beach Volleyball will be Monday, March 6th beginning at 9 a.m., at Grossmont College in La Mesa, where they will face the host Grossmont Griffins and the San Diego Mesa Olympians of Clairemont Mesa. The next home matches for College of the Desert Beach Volleyball will be Saint Patrick's Day, Friday, March 17th beginning at 10 a.m., at the Civic Center Park, where they will host the Mt. San Antonio Mounties to open up South Coast Conference play. Hope to see you there.
