SANTA MARIA, Calif. - The Allan Hancock College softball program was firing on all cylinders on Friday afternoon after a solid sweep of Citrus College at the AHC Softball Field.

The Bulldogs move to 7-3 on the season with the victories, stretching their active win streak to five, while the Owls fall to 5-10. Head coach, Scia Maumausolo, was recognized prior to the game for hitting yet another milestone in her highly decorated career. On February 5th, Coach Maumausolo recorded her 200th win while at the helm of the AHC program after her squad topped Porterville College in an 11-1 decision. She entered the 2022 campaign with an overall coaching record of 253-244-5 after 12 seasons with the Bulldogs and two at Palomar College.

Citrus jumped on top early with a pair of runs in the first inning, but Ehsya Glidewell and Abigail Salazar knotted the score in the second after a pair of RBI singles. Bats rattled for the Bulldogs in the third as they put up seven runs, sparked by a two-run RBI from Alyssa Jones and a grand slam by Mya Mendoza. The Owls chipped away at the deficit with one run in the fourth and five in the fifth before Mendoza rebuilt the cushion again with another two-run shot over the fence. Citrus managed to cut the difference to one after a one-out homer in the top of the seventh scored two, but solid infield defense put the game away.

Xchelle Glidewell earned the start in the circle and twirled for 6.1 innings. She allowed nine earned runs on 11 hits and struck out one batter. Briana Munoz entered as the closer but did not factor into the final decision.

GAME TWO: ALLAN HANCOCK 17, CITRUS 5 | BOX SCORE

The Owls scored first again in the nightcap after double to left-center plated one in the opening frame, but the home squad responded with a six-run showing in the bottom of the inning to regain the lead. Munoz crossed the plate first after a wild pitch while X. Glidewell sent one runner home with a single. E. Glidewell followed up with an RBI double that scored two before Antoinette Terrones brought one home after a shot up the middle. She was then sent home by a double from Lisette Coria that squeaked through the right side. Munoz found her way to the plate again in the second, capitalizing on another wild pitch opportunity, before the Owls put up three runs through the next two innings.

Bats caught fire for the Bulldogs in the bottom of the fourth as they rattled off 10 runs in the inning. Munoz started the string with a double to left-center, plating one, before Madison Gamble scored a pair after sending a single up the middle. E. Glidewell notched an RBI with a single down the rightfield line, followed by three others who scored on walks and mental errors. Munoz capped off the scoring for AHC with a three-run homer to center. Citrus closed the scoring for both sides with a homerun shot of their own before the run-rule was enacted.
