Women's Water Polo Heads to Santa Cruz this Weekend

Women's Water Polo heads to Santa Cruz this Friday for Cabrillo College's Bockman Tournament in Aptos.  The Bockman is usually a two-day tournament, but has been reduced to one this year due to travel restrictions.  The Cougars open with Ohlone (2:30) and also play host Cabrillo (4 PM).  The Cougars and Renegades played two weeks ago at the Cougars' season openning Central Coast Tournament, with the Cougars defending their home pool, 18-3.  This weekend represents the host Seahawks' 2021 season-opener.  They will open their season and tournament against Ohlone at 1:15.

Cuesta had a tough time in their second week of the 2021 campaign.  After a solid 4-1 start in their season-openning home tournament, the Cougars dropped three games and cancelled a fourth last weekend in Saratoga.  The Cougars opened against Merced and, one week after beating the Blue Devils by one goal, fell by a goal, 12-11.  The Cougars played San Joaquin Delta in Friday's nightcap and fell to the Mustangs, 17-6.  On day two of the West Valley Tournament the Cougars succumbed to injury and illness and, after falling behind the host Vikings, 1-0, forfeited the game (5-0) and pulled out of the tournament, while cancelling their scheduled game against Foothill.  The three setbacks dropped the Cougars back to .500 at 4-4 on the year.  Freshman Anna Kreowski (Arroyo Grande HS) led the Cougars with eight goals on Friday.  She is currently for third on the team with 17 goals for the season and trails only fellow Freshman Chloe Porter (Santa Maria: Righetti HS) and 2018 All-WSC 1st Teamer Kylee Wesemann (Bountiful, UT-pict), who have 18 goals each.
