Bobcats win sixth straight

The Saddleback baseball team won its sixth straight game with an 8-4 victory at Southwestern College on Wednesday in Chula Vista.  The Bobcats rallied for five runs in the seventh inning to improve to 7-1 on the season.

Saddleback took some time to crank up the engine on Wednesday, trailing 2-0 heading into the sixth inning.  The Bobcats then exploded for eight runs over the next two innings to turn the tables on the Jaguars and leave town with a win.

Saddleback scored three times in the sixth inning on only two hits as Southwestern helped out by committing three errors in the inning.    The Bobcats then scored five times in the seventh inning, rapping out five hits in the inning while capitalizing on another defensive miscue from the Jaguars.  Cole Koniarsky, Isaiah Morales, Jason Hefft, Jack Collins and Makani Tanaka all had hits in the inning as Saddleback sent 10 batters to the plate.

Hefft led the offense with a 3-for-5 performance, scoring two times while driving in one run.  Koniarsky and Morales finished with two hits apiece.

Saddleback started Dylan Singh on the mound and he pitched 5.1 innings before giving way to the bullpen.  Ryan Cullinane entered in the sixth inning and pitched 2.2 innings in picking up his first win of the season.    Trevor Eby finished off the Jaguars in the ninth, striking out two in the inning.

Saddleback is now 7-1 to start the season.  The Bobcats will host Cuesta College on Thursday and Friday at Doug Fritz Field.  Thursday's game is scheduled to start at 4:00 PM with a scheduled 1:00 PM start on Friday.
