COD Softball wraps up 2022 season with mercy win over Eagles, 10-2

COD (12-26) concluded the 2022 season, by honoring seven sophomores and then by shooting down the Mt. San Jacinto Eagles of Menifee (11-20) in five innings, 10-2.

College of the Desert Softball honored their seven sophomore athletes as they concluded the 2022 season. Those honored tonight were: Rancho Mirage H.S. alumni Natalie Avila & Jaidyn Olson, La Quinta H.S. alumni Lauren Robinson & Jessie Rios-Huerta, Coachella Valley H.S. alumnus Elizabeth Olivas, Palm Springs H.S. alumnus Davia Hines and Shadow Hills H.S. alumnus Annabelle Amador.

Sophomore right handed starting pitcher Lauren Robinson (La Quinta H.S.) tossed five innings, for her eighth complete game of the season, striking out four, giving her a total of 51 strikeouts for the season, all while grabbing her seventh win of the year.

Sophomore short stop Davia Hines (Palm Springs H.S.) went 1 for 2 with two walks, three runs scored and a run batted in, out of the leadoff spot in the lineup. Her only hit of the night, a double to left to start the game, was her team leading 15th double of the season and co-team leading 47th hit of the season. The three runs scored, tied a season high and gave Hines her 9th multi-run game of the season.

Freshman second baseman Porschea Miranda (Rancho Mirage H.S.) went 1 for 3 with two RBI's, giving her 11 RBI's on the year, for her third multi-RBI game of the season.

Sophomore left fielder Annabelle Amador (Indio Shadow Hills) went 3 for 4 with three RBI's and a run scored. Tonight's 3 hits and 3 RBI's were a season high in a game, giving Amador her 9th multi-hit game of the season.

Freshman right fielder Beyonce Mondragon (Thermal Coachella Valley) went 2 for 3, for her 4th multi-hit game of the season and sophomore third baseman Jessie Rios-Huerta (La Quinta H.S.) went 1 for 2, with two runs scored, tying a season high.

Sophomore center fielder Elizabeth Olivas (Thermal Coachella Valley) went 2 for 3, for her 3rd multi-hit game of the season, with two runs scored, tying a season high. Olivas stole second base in the second inning for her 7th stolen base of the season.
