KNIGHTS SWEPT BY SKYLINE

REDDING, Calif. – Shasta College's baseball team was swept in a three-game road series against Skyline, falling 13-0, 5-1 and 10-6 to extend their losing streak to five straight games.

Skyline 13, Shasta 0
Skyline scored a run in each of the first five innings to pull away early. The Knights managed only two hits in the contest, a single each from Hunter Pinkston and AJ Davies. Hayden Boyes drew the lone walk for Shasta. Jay Mendez took the loss, giving up seven earned runs on 12 hits in four innings pitched.

Shasta trailed 4-0 until it scored its lone run in the top of the seventh when Keanu Mizuta scored on a wild pitch. But Skyline matched it with a run on an error in the bottom half of the frame and held on to win. Three of Shasta's four hits were doubles from Mizuta, Pinkston and Chase Rossman while Chris Jacobsen had a single. Max Nebel took the loss on the hill, allowing one unearned run on three hits in three innings while striking out two. Stephen Nelson gave up one earned run on four hits in three frames with three strikeouts and Julian Esqueda gave up on unearned run on two hits in two innings of relief work.

Skyline 10, Shasta 6
The Knights led 2-0 in the third after Pinkston scored on a passed ball and Mizuta scored when Boyes hit into a double play. But Skyline opened it up with a six-run bottom half of the frame, highlighted by a two-run triple. Shasta pulled within three runs with a three-run eighth on Jaden Gorge's RBI single, Derek Ray scoring on an error and Jacobsen's RBI single. But the Knights couldn't get closer than that.

Shasta totaled 10 hits, led by Jacobsen and Gorge, who were both 2 for 4. Giacomo Crosetti and Rossman each had a double and Rossman scored twice. Payton Jeffries took the loss on the mound, striking out two, walking three and giving up seven runs – three earned – on six hits in four innings.

Shasta (2-6) has a five-game homestand with a game against Yuba before a three games weekend series against Canada before hosting Sierra on Feb. 22.
