Falcons Outlast Bulldogs in Series Extra-Innings Finale, 4-3

San Mateo, Calif. - Freshman Dimitri McLen batted in the game-winning run as the Falcons outlasted San Mateo, 4-3, in a 12-inning series finale on Tuesday afternoon.

McLen captured his lone hit of the game when it mattered, on a two-out single to centerfield to score freshman Victor Vega. Vega opened the inning with a single to centerfield before freshman Eli De Guzman advanced him into scoring position after being hit by a pitch with two outs.

The Falcons held a 3-2 lead heading into the bottom of the ninth, but San Mateo equalized the game on a late sacrifice fly to force the contest into extras.

Freshman catcher Austin Menessini led the Falcon offense with 3-of-6 outing at the plate, adding a run, while freshman Nico Contraras added a multi-hit game, going 2-of-2 with a run and subbing in at first base in the top of the eighth.

On the hill, freshman Josh Petrill (1-0) tallied the win, allowing one hit in four complete innings and facing 13 batters.

Solano (1-2) returns home to host Chabot on Saturday, Feb. 5 at 1 p.m.
