Baseball Gets Swept in Series by College of the Canyons

BAKERSFIELD, CA - The Bakersfield College baseball team dropped a 9-6 home game on Monday, finishing the series against College of the Canyons that had been postponed twice due to heavy rain. Unfortunately, the Renegades could not hold on to the 5-3 lead after the 4th inning and dropped the series, 0-3.

The Cougars got on the board first with an early 3-0 lead after three innings. Bakersfield added a two-run single off the bat of Luis Fuentes in the third bringing home Joseph Alatorre and Trevor Spainhoward. In the next inning, Alatorre tied the game with an RBI single. Andrew Townson put the Renegades ahead at 5-3 with another RBI base hit but the lead ended as COC added five runs in the 7th innings.

Pitcher Brock Slikker took the loss for Bakersfield. Slikker was one of three relievers for Kyle Langston who pitched the first six. Langston was charged with three runs on four hits and two walks with five strikeouts.

BC is now 6-14 on the season and begins conference play 0-3. On Thursday they will host LA Mission for a 2:30 pm first pitch to start a three-game series and play the other two games there.
