After a slow start the women's beach volleyball team at MiraCosta College finally hit its stride and won two matches to secure a place as one of the final four colleges that will compete for a State Championship. The Spartans will travel to West Valley College which plays host to the team and individual championships on Friday May 5th through Sunday May 6th.

With the two wins the Spartans continue to make history with an overall record of 20-2 and an undefeated campaign against community colleges thus far.  MiraCosta has demonstrated skill and depth as a team and should be the #1 seed heading into Friday's team championship.

The Spartans won their first match of the day against a resilient Riverside City team by a close 3-2 result.  The second match of the day against Bakersfield ended in a 4-1 result and secured MiraCosta's place in the CCCAA State Championships.  Strong play from Cady Delay and her partner Violeti Faleumu set the tone for the Spartans.  Other standouts include Chloe Tripp, Claire Kinder, Mailia Sellers and Madeleine Alper.

MiraCosta will play three matches on Friday May 5th to which will determine the 2017 CCCAA Women's Beach Volleyball state champion. If you would like to follow the action you can find updates on the MiraCosta athletic department Twitter - @MCCSPARTANS.
