Pressure and Shots a plenty, just no goals.

EL CAJON — Attacking and putting pressure on the Mira Costa defense wasn't the problem for Grossmont College's Women's Soccer team, on Tuesday, Sept. 13th in the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference opener for both sides.

The problem for the Griffins (0-3, 0-1 PCAC) was finishing and getting it past the keeper.

Bridget Cooley and Ciara May Horn combined for eight shots on the day.  Sadly none of them got to the back of the net.

"I thought the game was a lot closer than the score line showed as we created a couple of good chances that we just didn't capitalize on," head coach Edward Lee said after the match. "Mira Costa was more clinical on there opportunities."

Grossmont surrendered a goal in the first half on a shot from the top of the goal area at the 18 minute mark.

The Green and Gold applied plenty of pressure on several occasions and out shot Mira Costa (2-3, 1-0 PCAC) 11-8.  They also claimed the only three corner kicks of the match.

Late in the second half, another shot was deflected past the Griffin keeper Jordan Hanssen.

"The players were disappointed to drop points at home, but I can't fault their spirit and effort to get back into the match in the second half as we played better collectively as a side" Lee said.

Grossmont will be back on the training pitch until they face Imperial Valley on the 20th of September.
