Women's soccer team shut out by seventh in the state Cypress

Irvine Valley's women's soccer team fell to Cypress, 6-0, in an Orange Empire Conference match on Friday at the OC Great Park.

The Lasers saw their record slip to 1-11-2 overall and 0-5-1 in conference. Cypress, ranked No. 7 in the state, remained in third place in the conference standings at 10-1-1 overall and 5-1-1 in conference.

Cypress scored two goals in the first half and added four goals in the second half.

Brianna Cortez did much of the damage for the Chargers. She finished with four goals on the day.

And Alyssa Villalobos contributed three assists in the contest. Other scorers for Cypress were Christine Duarte and Dayna Herbert.

IVC freshman keeper Maddison Turcios ended with six saves.

Irvine Valley plays again next Monday in a make-up match at No. 3 Saddleback at 3 p.m.
