SMC Defeats Rio Hondo

The Santa Monica College Corsairs Women's Soccer team traveled to play Rio Hondo College Roadrunners on Tuesday for a night game under the lights. 

The Corsairs came out on top in the contest clinching a 2-1 victory. In the first half, Ceirra Little logged her first goal of the season off of a corner kick from Dayli Ramos in the 10th minute of play. The Roadrunners quickly began to press and broke through the Corsairs backline in the 27th minute of play to tie the game up 1-1. The Corsairs weathered the 8 shots taken by the Roadrunners to go into halftime still tied 1-1. 
 
The second half kicked-off with just as much intensity and in the 51st minute, Alexi Howard added her name to the stats sheet with an unassisted goal to put the Corsairs up 2-1. Taylor Brown took on an additional 7 shots in goal during the second half, but held the Roadrunners. 
 
The Corsairs came out on top with a 2-1 victory. SMC logged 7 shots with 5 on goal while RHC had 15 shots with 7 on goal. 
 
The Santa Monica College Corsairs now advance to 2-0-2 on the season only allowing 2 goals thus far. They will return to action at home on Friday, September 20th at 3pm.
