HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. - Emily Rosas tied a school record with 13 strikeouts while throwing her fourth no-hitter of the season to lead the No. 5 ranked Santa Ana College Softball team to a 2-0 win over Golden West (7-12, 1-10) on Friday afternoon.
The sophomore pitcher from Villa Park High also hit 174 strikeouts on the season to tie the single-season school record, which she is set to shatter with plenty of games left on the schedule.
Fortunately, the pitching performance came at perfect time as the Dons (21-3, 11-0) struggled at the plate with just two runs on the day.
Santa Ana recorded five hits on the day but only scored because of a few Rustler errors in the third inning.
The Dons stay unbeaten in Orange Empire Conference play with the win and maintain a two game lead over Cypress at the top of the standings.
SAC is set for a three-way tournament with Cerritos and LA Mission over the weekend before heading to El Camino for a non-conference rematch on Tuesday, March 29th at 3:00 p.m.
