CYPRESS, CA- Cypress men's soccer (10-6-5, 7-3-2 OEC) lost in overtime against the Cuyamaca Coyotes (11-2-8, 8-1-3 PCAC) on Wednesday, November 16th in the first round of the CCCAA SoCal Regional Playoffs.

The Chargers hosted their first CCCAA playoff game in the college's history. The afternoon was met with filled bleachers, fans lined against the field and an energetic loud audience.

In the first half, Cypress was greeted to a physical Cuyamaca Coyote team that bodied the Chargers during contested balls. The Coyotes excelled at drawing fouls and drew double of their own, with Cuyamaca having only ten fouls to Cypress's 20. The Chargers offensive attacks led to 22 shot attempts and eight on goal to the Coyotes 15 shots and five on goal.

Cuyamaca aggressive play allowed the strict officiating to grant three yellow cards to the Chargers while giving the Coyotes two. The game was sent into overtime scoreless after many attempts in the box. After a Cypress header on goal was saved, the Coyotes took the ball down the field. With seven minutes left in overtime, Cuyamaca scored the only goal of the game for the eventual win.

In their ten win season, Sophomore Goalkeeper Alex Felix accumulated six shutout victories with four being from conference games. For the season, Julio Perez led the team in scoring with seven goals while Braulio Morales and Raymond Ramirez tied for second with five goals. Cypress men's soccer loss ends their season in the first round of the CCCAA SoCal Regional Playoffs.
