Citrus College battled from behind but dropped a 7-5 loss to Mt. San Jacinto Thursday afternoon.

The Owls drop to 3-7 overall, while the Eagles improve to 9-1 on the year.

Seven Owls had hits in the game, led by Sean Rooney (2-for-5), Jordan Sheridan (2-for-4), Chad Green (2-for-4) and Aaron Martinez (2-for-4), who each had two hits.

Mt. San Jacinto scored first, plating two runs in the top of the second, but the Owls responded with three runs in the bottom half of the frame. With two outs, Citrus loaded the bases and a wild pitch scored one. Rooney then drove the other two runners in with a base hit to left.

The Eagles tied the game in their next chance at the plate, but the Owls took it right back with two runs in the bottom of the third. Once again, Citrus loaded the bases with two outs and Martinez blasted a single to left field to send two runners home, 5-3.

Things took a turn late in the game as Mt. San Jacinto scored one run in the sixth and three in the seventh to take the lead before shutting down the Citrus offense to secure the 7-5 victory.

The Owls continue a five-game homestand with a 1 p.m. game on Saturday against Rio Hondo College.
