COD Baseball rallies from 8-runs down to knock off Tartars, 19-16

COD (3-0) had a tall task on hand maintaining their undefeated record, with both teams clubbing one anther for over four hours, but in the end, a seven run eighth inning by the Roadrunners was the difference, as they pushed past the Compton Tartars (2-1), 19-16.

The Tartars made nine pitching changes, compared to the four that Desert made on the lengthy afternoon contest. Sophomore first baseman Jacob Mejia (Palm Desert H.S.) went 2 for 4, out of the 6 hole in the lineup, including scoring the winning run in the 8th and sophomore short stop Jason Leon (La Quinta H.S.) went 3 for 4 day out of the 3 hole in the lineup, including 2 doubles and 3 runs scored in the win. Sophomore right handed relief pitcher Kenneth Schechter (Newtonville (MA) Newton North) tossed three innings of relief to grab his first win of the season.

The next contest for Desert is on Thursday, February 2nd at 2p hosting the San Diego City Knights (0-2).
