AVC Baseball won all three games against Bakersfield College this season after an 11-10 game-3 win on Friday. It took another come-from-behind rally and a walk-off bunt from Nathan Duarte to complete the season sweep of the Renegades.
Bakersfield got on the board first and had a 4-0 lead heading into the bottom of the 2nd inning. AVC chipped into that lead with two runs in the 2nd, courtesy of an RBI walk by Josh Nuno and an unearned run from a wild pitch. The Marauders tied it 4-4 with an RBI single from Joe Uribe in the 3rd, and an RBI double from Zach Terry in the 6th.
Antelope Valley surrendered the lead in the top of the 7th inning but struck back in the bottom of the inning when Nate Scott homered to left-center field. Scott continues to lead the Marauders in home runs on the season with 9. Omar Santamaria then put AVC up by a run when he singled to score Nathan Duarte. Bakersfield went on an 8th inning run that would give them a 10-6 lead. But the Marauders would respond in the inning when Ariv Camacho doubled to score Josh Nuno, and Mason Johnson singled to score Camacho. The comeback rally continued in the 9th inning with an RBI triple from Nuno. Camacho provided the tying run when he singled to bring home Nuno. With one out, Camacho advanced to third on a hit by Nate Scott. Nathan Duarte gave AVC the winning run when he laid down a slow-rolling bunt that finally stopped on the chalk just a few feet from first base. The walk-off single brought AVC to .500 in conference play at 6-6 and 14-12 overall.
Pitcher Jake Glickman got the win for AVC with no earned runs and 2 strikeouts in just over an inning of work. Sam Maudsley also contributed 2 strikeouts and no earned runs in 3 innings on the mound.
Winners of five out of their last six, the Marauders begin a three-game series against LA Valley on the road on 4/5.
