Fullerton defeats Mountie Baseball in extra innings

(Walnut, CA) It took 11 innings to settle a non-conference game between host Mt. San Antonio College (4-6) and Fullerton College (8-3) on Thursday, Feb. 16, but it was the Hornets that eventually prevailed, 7-6.

Down 4-1 in the bottom of the fourth, the Mounties scored five runs, fueled by a triple by Elijah Pelayo (2-5, R, RBI) and a three-run homer by Travis Hobbensiefken (4-5, 2 R, 3 RBI, 2 2B), to take a 6-4 lead. However, the Hornets tied the game in the sixth and took the lead for good in the top of the 11th.

CJ Ontiveros (2-5) and Joel Quemada (1-5, R) accounted for the other Mt. SAC RBIs and Gabe Rico (1-4) and Damien Delgadillo (0-3) scored the other runs.

The Mounties will face Orange Coast College (8-3) at home in a non-conference game on Saturday, Feb. 18, at 12 p.m.
