No. 9 Softball Wraps First Half of Conference Play with Wins Over Shasta

Oroville, Calif. - The No. 9 Butte softball team wrapped the first round of GVC play with a pair of wins over Shasta, 7-2 and 8-0 (5), on Saturday afternoon.

Five Roadrunners earned multi-hit outings, led by sophomore Alexis Detwiler and Kylee Richhart, who earned a pair of hits and RBI each. Richhart counted a double in one of her hits, while Detwiler earned a triple. Sophomore Hayley Sites made her one hit count with a solo homer. 

Freshman Avery Jolley (8-3) earned the win in the circle, after tossing 6.2 innings. She fanned nine and only allowed two hits.

Freshman Ella Jolley led the Roadrunner battery in the second game with a 2-for-4 performance with two doubles and four RBI. Detwiler, sophomore Maggie Smith, A. Jolley, and freshman Faith Epperson all tallied a pair of hits each.

Smith (11-2) pitched the complete game, scattering four hits and fanning five.

Butte (22-5, 10-0) heads to Delta on Sunday, Apr. 2 for a makeup doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m.
