Moments after West Valley's 6-3 loss to San Mateo in the Coast-North season finale, all thoughts turned to next week's postseason opener. Despite the loss to the Bulldogs, the Vikings (24-16, 14-6) had wrapped up a playoff spot and second place in the conference, two games behind Skyline (30-8, 16-4) and one ahead of CSM (22-16-1, 13-7), with a win at San Mateo Tuesday. Playoff seedings will be announced Sunday, and one thing is for sure: as they have all season, the Vikings will be on the road. WVC's new facility is under construction and all 2022 "home" games have been at Mission College. That fact alone makes 24-16, 14-6 remarkable.

Curran Ozawa-Burns had another memorable season, leading the Vikings with 43 RBI, a NorCal-leading 12 home runs and a .578 slugging %. Henry Wright led the Vikings in walks (23), doubles (13) and triples (2), while Cole Murchison topped WVC in average (.396) and OBP (.477). Jacob Dressler was just behind Murchison in average (.373) and OBP (.449) and was nearly perfect in the field, committing a single error in 191 total chances. Aran Cox led the team with 14 stolen bases.

On the hill, Cae Cox had a team-high seven wins (7-2), followed by Ryan Sleeman with six (6-3). Sleeman had 80 strikeouts in 72.1 innings pitched (9.95 K9), while Michael Dixson had a team-low 3.03 ERA.
