AHC Baseball Swept at Moorpark

MOORPARK, Calif. - The Allan Hancock College baseball program was swept at Moorpark in its final road trek of the abbreviated Spring II season. 

The Bulldogs drop to 16-6 overall (11-3 WSC) while the Raiders move to 14-10 (10-8 WSC) on the season.

GAME ONE: HANCOCK 3, MOORPARK 4

Moorpark struck first early in the contest after plating one runner in the bottom of the second frame. Jacob Ruley knotted the score with an RBI single that plated a runner in the following inning, but the Raiders responded with a three-run showing in the bottom of the frame. Hancock chipped away at the deficit with an unearned run in the fourth frame and an RBI single from Travis Welker in the final inning, but stranded the tying run on base to close the contest.

Matthew Gonzales was charged with the loss after tossing six innings. He punched out six batters while scattering seven hits and surrendering three earned runs. 

GAME TWO: HANCOCK 2, MOORPARK 5

Jeff Ray put the Bulldogs on top early in the nightcap with a double that pushed one runner across the plate in the opening frame. Moorpark regained the momentum with a strong four-run in the bottom of the third. Both teams remained scoreless through the next three innings before a homerun from Travis Welker landed over the wall in the seventh. The Raiders closed out the scoring for both parties in the bottom of the inning with a single that plated one. 

Trevor Garcia suffered the loss on the bump after seven innings of work. He struck out a total of nine batters but allowed four earned runs on seven hits. Lucas Earle came in as the closer for the last inning but did not factor into the final decision.

The Bulldogs are set to host Moorpark on Saturday, May 29th, for the season finale. First pitch of the doubleheader event is scheduled for 12 PM, followed by the nightcap at approximately 3 PM, on John Osborne Field.
