Siess Leads Mt. SAC Softball to Win over Citrus, 13-5

(Glendora, CA) For the third game in a row, the Mt. SAC Softball Team has been victorious in five-innings, with the latest coming Friday (Mar.6) in a non-conference win over host Citrus, 13-5.

The Mounties, who defeated L.A. Harbor and Compton in the shortened wins recently, improved to 18-1 overall.

Sophomore centerfielder Nicole Siess (3 for 4) led the charge with a four-RBI performance, hitting a home run, double and stole two bases.

Two other Mounties - Quinn De Avila (3-4, 2 Runs, RBI, Dbl., SB) and Megan Jones (3-3, 2 R, HR, 2 RBIs) each had three-hit games, while Bianca Chavez (2-4, 2 R, RBI) and Emily Goldstein (2-3, 2 R, 1 RBI, Dbl) had two hits each.

Sophomore pitcher Annalisa Panuco (6-1) picked up her sixth win of the season, while striking out eight batters.

After Siess homered in the first inning, the Mounties exploded for five runs in the second inning and six in the fourth to shorten the game in the fifth for the win.

Mt. SAC will host Long Beach City College for a South Coast Conference game Tuesday (Mar. 10).
