Beavers Drop Another Heartbreaker to Folsom Lake

BEAVERS DROP ANOTHER HEARTBREAKER TO FOLSOM LAKE

The 2022 ARC baseball team has already endured a rash of injuries this season and despite it getting worse on Thursday, the Beavers were in position to even up the series with the Folsom Lake Falcons.  After Folsom got a run in the top of the 1st the Beavers tied it up with a run in the bottom half on a double to right by sophomore 1B Bryce Sidler (Oakmont).  Sophomore RHP Tyler Quintanilla (Summit Shasta) was giving the Beavers another strong outing, going 6 innings with just the one run allowed on 6 hits with no walks.  He felt a pain in his foot however from covering first earlier in the game and had to leave the game.  The Beavers went right to closer Christian Lucero (River City) in the 7th and he shut the Falcons down on 5 pitches.  After a one out hit batter and a wild pitch, Folsom took the lead in the 8th on an error with two outs by 2B Marcellas Flenory (Antelope).  ARC came right back however and took a 3-2 lead in the bottom of the 8th as sophomore RF Josiah Taylor (Alpha Charter) scored on a wild pitch to tie the game and then Sidler singled in Blake Yuyama (Kennedy) who had walked earlier in the inning.  Despite Lucero leading the state in saves he was not able to shut the door in the 9th as Folsom tied it up on a pinch hit single up the middle.  ARC got the winning run to 2nd in the bottom of the 9th after LF Trevor Crockett (Del Campo) walked and stole second but he was stranded there.  Folsom charged ahead in the 10th after a leadoff walk and stolen base the next batter singled up the middle and got to 2nd on an error by freshman CF Dominic Ott (Woodcreek).  After a single and a stolen base put runners at 2nd and 3rd with no outs the Beavers brought the infield in and got a ground ball to Flenory at second base but he bobbled it allowing a run to score but getting the out at first.  After another single put Folsom up 6-3 freshman LHP Anthony Ocanas (Woodland) came in and got a double play ball to end the inning.  The Beavers were not able to score in the 10th.

The two Los Rios teams will finish up the series on Saturday at Folsom Lake College at 1:00 p.m.
