Fullerton ends Mt. SAC Softball’s four-game winning streak with a 7-3 win

(Walnut, CA) A four-game winning streak came to an end as the Fullerton College Hornets defeated the Mt. SAC Softball team, 7-3, Thursday (February 9) in non-conference action.

Fullerton opened the scoring with three runs in the top of the first inning and never trailed the rest of the way.

The Mounties (5-2) answered with a run in the bottom half of the inning with a solo home run by centerfielder Mia Mendoza (1 for 3, R, RBI).

After a fourth Hornet run came across in the second inning, the Mounties answered in the fourth inning with a triple by first baseman Brianna Goris (2 for 3, R), who came home with a sacrifice fly by designated player Janis Espinoza, to trail, 4-2.

A second Mt. SAC home run by third baseman Olivia Ortiz brought the Mounties within two runs, 5-3, but Fullerton added two more in the top of the seventh for the 7-3 final.
