COD (4-1) heads into the bye week with their best record in 11 years, grabbing a lopsided win on the road defeating the Los Angeles Southwest Cougars of West Athens (0-5), 64-20.

Freshman quarterback Isaiah Goad (Palm Springs H.S.) had his best game of the season, as he passed for 152 yards and 4 scores. Freshman free safety Dige Savage (North Las Vegas (NV) Rancho) had 7 total tackles, with 4 solos, he also grabbed a pick and ran it back 19 yards.

For Desert, the first game in program history against the Los Angeles Southwest Cougars of West Athens was back in the year 1971. The last time these two teams had faced each other was thirty-three years ago when the Roadrunners came out triumphant with a 17-3 final score, and brought home the Southern California Bowl title for the second time in the history of the program. Desert now has a 6-2 overall record against the Cougars, including a 2-2 away record. The next home game for the Roadrunners will take place on Saturday, October 15th at 6:00p against the Pasadena City Lancers. This upcoming home game's theme is to show up wearing pink to spread cancer awareness. Desert first competed against the Lancers in 1992 and have a 1-5 overall record against them and an 1-1 record in Palm Desert.
