COD (1-0) opened up the 2020 season exacting some revenge upon the Orange Coast Pirates of Costa Mesa (1-1), 7-2.

In 2019, Desert hosted the Pirates and fell 8-1, by the next season, the tables had turned.

In doubles play, the team of freshman Shekinah Daffon (Palm Springs H.S.) and freshman Hannah Johnson (Palm Springs H.S.) struggled in their match, falling narrowly 8-5. The team of freshman Agustina Berrondo (Tucumán (ARG) Institute Hermanas Esclavas) and freshman Kiara Bragg (Rancho Mirage H.S.) rolled in their match, 8-1 and the team of sophomore Sariah Sanchez (Indio Shadow Hills) and sophomore Emily Gallegos (Desert Hot Springs H.S.) won in a close one, 8-5.

In singles play, Daffon won in straight sets, leading in the second set, 3-0, her opponent retired due to injury. Berrondo won in straight sets, 6-4, 6-1 and Johsnon won effortlessly in straight sets, 6-2 and 6-1. Bragg struggled in her singles match, falling 6-3 and 6-2. Sanchez also won easily 6-0 and 6-1 and sophomore Angie Millan (La Quinta H.S.) won in straight sets, 6-3 and 6-2.

The next match for College of the Desert Women's Tennis will be in San Diego on February 11th at 2p, where they will travel for a non-Conference match against the San Diego City Knights.

College of the Desert defeated Orange Coast College, 7-2 in non-Conference play at College of the Desert in Palm Desert.
