Baseball Completes the Sweep with 8-3 Win over Solano

Fairfield, Calif. - The Butte baseball team completed the season-opening sweep of Solano with an 8-3 win in the series finale on Saturday afternoon.

Sophomores Cole Arnold and Danelle Daniels were perfect at the plate with Arnold going 2-for-2 with a double and run, while Daniels posted a 3-for-3 outing with two RBI, including a solo homer, and drawing three walks.

The Roadrunners counted a pair of three-run innings in the fifth and seventh to add insurance runs after the teams were knotted at one apiece through four innings.

Sophomore Bryson Reif started the game on the bump for Butte, throwing four complete and allowing only one run on one hit, while fanning five. Freshman Matt Deschaine (1-0) earned the win, tossing four complete, giving up one earned run and striking out three. Sophomore Jaeden Fraley just missed a save opportunity, but closed the contest by striking out two of the three batters he faced.

Butte (3-0) heads to Yuba next on Tuesday, Jan. 31 for a 1 p.m. contest.
