Baseball wraps up three-game SCC sweep of Rio Hondo

(Walnut, CA) Host Mt. San Antonio College (16-6, 6-3) closed out a three-game South Coast Conference sweep of Rio Hondo College (14-10, 5-7) by defeating the Roadrunners, 13-2, on Saturday, March 19.

Home runs by Will Bermudez (2-4, 2 R, 3 RBI) and Cristian Enriquez (2-3, 2 R, 2 RBI) in the third inning helped spark the Mountie offense. Nin Burns II (3-5, 2 R, RBI, 2B) and Brent Cota (4-6, 2 R, RBI) also performed well at the plate for Mt. SAC.

On the base paths, Elijah Pelayo and Jacob Moreno each stole a base in the winning effort.

Starter Alec Beck (2-0) got the win for the Mounties, throwing 5.1 innings, allowing one run (earned), while striking out four.

Mt. SAC will travel to Norwalk for the first of a three-game SCC series against Cerritos College (8-14-1, 4-8) on Tuesday, March 22, at 2:30 p.m. Game 2 of the series will take place in Walnut on Thursday, March 24, at 2:30 p.m., and Game 3 on Saturday, March 26, in Norwalk at 12 p.m.
