Two WVC pairs remain unbeaten, but Vikings fall to Feather River 3-2

In a battle of two of the state's top squads, the West Valley beach volleyball team dropped an intense 3-2 match to Feather River Friday afternoon in Saratoga.

The Vikings (3-1) needed at least two wins in the second wave of the match after WVC and FRC (3-1) were tied 1-1 after the first wave.

The match opened with Viking 2's Jaida Ward/Rene Wash staying undefeated in 2020 with spirited 17-21, 21-18, 15-12 comeback win over Kayla Joyce/Natalie Thomas. FRC 4's Sophia Silva/Dannika Day rallied past WVC's Della Trimble/Renee Martin 15-21, 21-19, 15-11 to knot the match at 1-1 heading into the second wave.

WVC 1's Kayla Keller/Hannah Reynoso fell to Aurora Carnes/Mere Nagase, one of the state's top duos, 21-11, 21-18. Viking 3's Emily Paxton/Audrey Fernandez stayed unbeaten on the year and evened the match at 2-2 with a 21-13, 21-15 straight-set win over Molia Tuia/Taylor O'Reilly.

The Golden Eagles clinched the match when 5's Delaney Gill/Mattea Wilson topped Hannah Moore/Elia Duenas.
