#6 Chargers Come Alive in Game Two, Split Double Header with #7 Palomar

CYPRESS, CA- The #6 Cypress Chargers (25-9, 13-3 OEC) hosted the #7 Palomar Comets (25-5) in a Saturday afternoon double header. The Chargers and Comets went back and forth all afternoon as Palomar took game one, 6-1, and Cypress was victorious in game two, 3-1. 

GAME 1

Sophie Little (2-for-2) was a bright spot for Cypress in game one, as she drove in the only RBI of the game for the Chargers. Eliza Sandoval got the start in the circle for Cypress pitching 4.2 innings allowing 4 runs on 3 hits. Alyssa Huerta (1-for-3), Emily Rush (1-for-3), and Jordan Thompson (1-for-4) each notched one hit as Palomar pitcher, India Caldwell (7.0 IP), slowed down the Cypress offense. Comets third baseman, Allyson Amato, went 2-for-4 with 4 RBI's to lead Palomar to victory. 

GAME 2

Emily Rush was in the circle for Cypress in game two, throwing a dominant 2-hit complete game and earning her 16th win of the season. Rush also went 1-for-2 at the plate and drove in 1 run. Camryn Addimando (1-for-2, BB) got the scoring started for Cypress in the bottom of the second, scoring Paige Shafer from third base. Eliza Sandoval (1-for-3) would single to center field in the bottom of the third, scoring Kalyn Lopez making the Chargers lead 3-0. Palomar would fight back as they scored 1 run in the fourth, but Emily Rush was too much for the Comets as she held them to 4 hits in the ball game. Hannah Beyer would single to spark a two-out rally in the top of the 7th for Palomar, but Mackenzie Lefebvre flied out to centerfield sealing the 3-1 victory for Cypress. 

UP NEXT: The Chargers will enter their final stretch of five regular season games with the next two being on the road. Cypress will travel to Saddleback on Monday, April 11th for an Orange Empire Conference game scheduled to start at 2pm.
