In a season that has produced many double-digit victories, the GCC Baseball team battled itself and the visitors from Los Angeles Mission College Tuesday March 22 to eke out a 3-2 victory by scoring two runs in the ninth inning at Stengel Field. Trailing 2-1 in the bottom half of the final stanza, Glendale benefited from timely hitting and a little luck to win its eighth straight games, seventh in conference play, and is 18-5 overall and is 7-0 in WSC South play.

With Mission leading 2-1, Brandon Nguyen's leadoff double started the rally in the ninth inning, and he scored when Adrian Gonzalez was safe on a fielder's choice to tie the game at 2-2. After advancing to second base, Gonzalez scored the go ahead run on a single by Kenji Pallares for the game winner. Starting pitcher Aaron Suval pitched seven strong innings, allowing two runs and five hits and striking out four. Relief pitcher Aedan Cunningham pitched two sparkling innings to get the win to improve to 2-0 and allowed just one hit.

Glendale leads the WSC South by three games over L.A. Valley and Canyons and potentially two or three games over Citrus based on the outcome of Tuesday's game against West L.A. Glendale plays at L.A. Mission Tuesday March 24 at 2:30 pm.
