Jaguars sweep Falcons' home opener doubleheader

The Falcon softball team hosted San Jose City College on Saturday for the 2022 home-opening doubleheader, but the Jaguars were not kind guests as they took both games, 10-4 and 9-4.

In the opener it was clear the Falcons were ready to hit; they'd totaled just eight hits through their first three games, but surpassed that with nine hits in Saturday's first game.  Unfortunately, the Jaguars' bats were cranking too, as they pounded out ten hits, including a back-breaking two-run homer in the fourth inning.  Three Falcons had two hits apiece in the loss:  sophomore Sachi Reyes, Sydnee Chappell, and Lilly Alvarez.

Game two started promising for the Falcons as they jumped ahead with four runs in the first inning.  The Jaguars would not be held quiet, though, and responded with a five-run third inning and three more in the fourth.  Though both teams ended up with 11 hits, the Jags' hits came at more opportune times and produced nine runs.  Sachi Reyes, Sydnee Chappelland Hannah Dominguez each had two hits for the Falcons in the loss.

The Falcons will host Feather River College on Tuesday for an afternoon doubleheader beginning at 1:00 pm.
