BASEBALL: COMEBACK WIN!

The Hornets pulled off a come-from-behind victory at Ventura College on Thursday to beat the Pirates 10-6 on Sawyer Chesley's grand slam in the top of the 9th.

FC went up 2-0 in the first inning on Tony Accordino's double that scored Ryan Lamastra and Elias Rios

In the 3rd inning, Lamastra took advantage of a wild pitch scoring from third.

Ventura got on the board with two runs in the 3rd inning and added two more in the 5th.

The Hornets held a 5-4 lead, until the 7th inning when VC brought two runs across on Riley Langerman's single scoring Elijah Maris and Mitchell Mashiko

Down 6-5 in the top of the 9th, it was do or die for Fullerton. Lamasta led off the inning with a single, According worked a walk, Luis Chavarin also pulled a base on balls. With one out on the board, Sawyer came up and blasted a grand slam over left field to put the Hornets up 9-6. Rios came up a couple of batters later and pushed Dean Drake home on a hard-hit double to right field.

Adam Armstrong locked up his first win for FC with a strike out and two fly-outs in the bottom of the 9th. Overall, Armstrong tossed 3 innings, allowed only 3 hits, had 2 walks, and 4 strikeouts. 

Up Next: Fullerton (2-5 overall) goes back at again today at Compton College (2:00 pm), and then wraps up a busy week at home against Palomar tomorrow (Saturday, February 8th) at 1:00 pm.
