The MSJC baseball team opened Inland Empire Athletic Conference play this week and dropped a pair of road games, as they came up short at Chaffey 10-2 Saturday and lost at San Bernardino on Tuesday 18-12.

On Saturday the Eagles fell behind early as they gave up 4 runs in the bottom of the first and could only manage two runs as they lost at Chaffey.  Michael Downtain and Phoenix Sommay each had 3 hits in the game for MSJC, while Will Potter and Jaden Pickowitz both drove in a run.  Demetrius Vizcarra took the loss on the mound as he went 5 innings in the game.

Tuesday the Eagles tried their best to mount a late game comeback, but came up short at San Bernardino Valley.  After trailing 10-4 through six innings, the Eagles were able to push 8 runs across in the final 3, but SBVC answered each time to preserve the victory.  Sommay, Potter, and Brody Brown all had two hits a piece for the Eagles.  Potter had 3 RBIs in the game and hit a homerun.  Sommay had a triple and a pair of runs driven in.  Nico Reyes, Downtain, and Pickowitz each also picked up an RBI.  Derek Ryan suffered his first loss of the year on the mound as the Eagle pitching staff had a tough time finding the plate as they issued 11 walks in the game.

The Eagles are now 8-8-1 on the season and 0-2 in IEAC games.  Their busy schedule continues Thursday with a non-conference game at Citrus.  MSJC returns to conference play on Saturday when they host Cerro Coso at 1 pm.
