Antelope Valley College Football breezed past Santa Monica College 54-3 in an American Pacific Conference game on Saturday. The Corsairs got on the board first with a field goal, but it would be the only points of the night for them. Amir Bankhead started the rout with a 72-yard touchdown run, followed by a 3-yard touchdown run from Que Allen. Jackson Marshall would then add a 3-yard touchdown of his own to give the Marauders a 20-3 lead at the end of the first quarter.
The second quarter yielded much of the same as Bankhead recorded a 1-yard touchdown rush while Que Allen scampered for 8 yards and another score. Shamir Washington got in on the act with a 13-yard touchdown pass from Daryus Warren to give AVC a 41-3 lead at halftime. Warren finished 8-11 with 132 yards and a touchdown in the win.
Amir Bankhead opened the third quarter with his third touchdown of the day on a 60-yard run. Bankhead finished with a season-high 161 yards rushing and three touchdowns. Que Allen also matched his season-high with 85 yards on the ground and two touchdowns. Amir leads the Marauders in rushing on the season with 552 yards and 9 touchdowns, followed by Allen's 6 touchdowns off 299 yards rushing. AVC added one more score with a 3-yard touchdown run from Matthew Flores in the fourth quarter.
Defensively, the Marauders were led by Doron Mitchell (6 tackles, 1 sack) and Caden Hinton (5 tackles, 1 sack). Mitchell also had 2 forced fumbles. Jalen Williams recovered 2 fumbles, while RB Wilson V had 1 forced fumble, and Gannon Ginnis had 1 fumble recovery.
Kicker John Henderson was 6-8 on extra point attempts and had 6 punts for 230 yards, an average of 38 yards per punt.
AVC will battle the first-place Santa Barbara Vaqueros (6-1, 2-0) in their final home game of the regular season on Saturday, Oct. 29, at 2 p.m.
