Volleyball Takes Both Games at Bakersfield Tri Tournament

Bakersfield, CA- The Bakersfield College Volleyball team hosted their Bakersfield Classic tri-tournament of the 2022 season featuring the Reedley College Tigers and the Fullerton College Hornets on Friday, September 9th  In a competitive showdown against both opponents the Renegades won both games in three sets (3-0,3-0) to move to 3-3 on the season.  

Game 1 vs. Reedley

 

The Renegades used the limited amount of players the Tigers had brought to their advantage to not only play their starting six but their bench. BC eneded the first set on top, 25-10. The second set Reedley managed to go point for point with Bakersfield until after the 9th point and the Gades dominated the rest of the game, 25-10. The final set ended 25-5.  

Freshmen Alexandria Johnson had her first collegiate and probably the school's first triple double (12 aces, 12 kills, and 10 digs) whilee teammate Kami Marion ended the game with a double double (11 kills and 13 digs). 

 

GAME 2 vs. Fullerton

The Bakersfield College women's volleyball team hosted Fullerton in the final match of the day and took another 3-0 sweep over the Hornets. 

FC gave the Renegades a run for their money going point by point and ended the set, 26-24.

BC gained more confidence from the first set while Fullerton let up in the second, 25-16.

Into the final set and both teams kept the game tighter in points but in the end BC came out on top again, 25-20.

Marion led the Renegades in the second game with 11 kills and 8 digs while teammate Johnson and Aubree Dees finished with 11 digs.

With the two win, the Renegades move to 3-3 on the season. Up next, they will host Moorpark on Friday, September 16th at 6:00pm at the Gil Bishop Sports Center.
