Softball defeats Imperial Valley College 17-0

San Diego Mesa softball team earned its first shutout win on Wednesday, defeating Imperial Valley College 17-0. The win gives the Olympians a 6-10 overall record and are now 3-1 in the conference. 

The Olympians dominated the game from the start scoring 4 runs in the first inning. It was then followed by a run in the second, 4 in the third, 3 in the fourth, and 5 in the fifth. The team combined for 23 total hits, the highest so far this season. 

Hannah Anderson led the team with 4 hits and 3 runs.  Jolene Giles contributed with 3 RBI's and a stolen base. Kori Jonilonis, Arianna Salazar, Ambria Guye, Carlotta Gonzalez, and Valeria Castro all turned in 2 RBI's.  

Arianna Izaguirre pitched 5 innings, allowed 2 hits, and struck out 6. 

The Olympians will host San Diego City College on Friday, August 24 in another important conference match up. First pitched is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
