Petty posts career high in win over Imperial Valley

SAN MARCOS, CA (2/19/2020) – Palomar faced Imperial Valley College on Wednesday night for their final regular-season home game and won 108-89.

Sophomore guard Hunter Petty was 9-14 in the field for a career-high 26 points. He also had four rebounds, one assist and one steal. Sophomore Anthony Smith and Jacob Durham both finished with 12 points as did freshman Michael Brandon. Smith had four rebounds and one assist while Durham had five rebounds, two assists, one steal and a block. Sophomore Anthony Brewer ended the night with nine points, but dished out seven assists, five of which were to Petty. Brewer also had four steals and two rebounds. Freshman Noah Woodby was the only other Comet in double-digits with 11 points. He had two steals, one assist and three rebounds.

The team shot 50 percent in the field and 48.3 percent at the 3-point line, some of their best shooting of the season. They committed 15 turnovers and caused 21 to score 20 points.

The men improve to 19-8 on the season and 10-5 in conference play. They will face Cuyamaca College on Friday, Feb. 21 for a 5 p.m. tip.
