MSJC tennis player Andy Gibson earned a spot in the CCCAA Southern California Regional Tournament with a pair of wins on Thursday during the Inland Empire Athletic Conference Tournament.  Gibson, who suffered a loss on Tuesday during the event came back to grab one of the conferences at-large berths at Regionals with Thursday's victories.

The previous week the men's tennis team concluded regular season matchplay on Thursday, March 24th at San Diego City College.  The Eagles lost to the Knights 0-9, finishing with a conference record of 1-11 and an overall record of 1-13.

Sophomore co-captains Andy Gibson and John Gagnepain competed in their final regular season matches for MSJC on Thursday.  Gibson lost in straight-sets to SDCC's Nik Speshilov in an intense, hard-hitting battle showcasing long rallies and powerful groundstrokes.

Although Gagnepain played his most complete match of the season, he was defeated by Eduardo Castillo (SDCC) in straight-sets for the second time this season.  "Eddie's net-play was just too good today," according to Gagnepain.  "He [Castillo] committed very few unforced errors and I couldn't find a way to break him."

Both Gibson and Gagnepain competed in the IEAC postseason tennis tournament last week.
