No. 24-ranked Citrus College steamrolled past LA Valley Saturday night.

The Owls improve to 4-0, while the Monarchs drop to 1-3. It marks the best start to the season for the Owls in over 15 years (game-by-game records were not kept prior to 2006).

Adam Urena went 19-for-25 with six touchdown passes and no interceptions.

Citrus jumped out to a 40-0 lead before the Monarchs could stop the bleeding.

Urena got things going less than three minutes into the game with a 25-yard pass to Arden Napier. Citrus then tacked on another two points with a safety to end the first quarter.

The Owls scored three unanswered touchdowns in the second as Urena found Paul Cooper for 32 yards, Alex Vazquez for five yards, and Jesse Carmona for three yards just five seconds before halftime.

Holding a 30-0 lead at the break, the Owls didn't take their foot off the gas pedal as Citrus scored in its first opportunity of the second half. After the defense forced the Monarchs to punt, Urena found Robert Vega wide open in the middle of the field to run in a 31-yard touchdown.

Jose Valdez – who was a perfect 5-for-5 on point-after-touchdown attempts – drilled a 33-yard field goal to extend the Owls' lead to 40-0, before LA Valley could get on the board. The Monarchs scored two touchdowns, but that was all Citrus would allow as the Owls finished the game with three touchdowns, 61-13.

Defensively, three Owls grabbed interceptions, including Dominic Garcia's pick-six for 30 yards. Gabriel Tamba led Citrus with two sacks, totaling 13 yards.

As a team, Citrus finished with 383 total offense yards, including 274 net yards passing and 109 net rushing.

The Owls remain at home for one last non-conference game as Antelope Valley comes to town.
