Late comeback fuels Falcon baseball victory

After their close series-opening loss on Thursday, the Falcons bounced back with wins on both Friday and Saturday at L.A. Valley College.

On Friday, the host Monarchs jumped ahead 5-0 after two innings and 6-1 after six innings, but the Falcons responded  with four runs in the seventh.  Down 6-5 heading into the ninth, the Falcons rallied to score two runs on just one hit, thanks to a hit batter, two walks (one with the bases loaded) and a sacrifice fly by Hayden Erickson.  Starter Skylar Wells went five innings without allowing an earned run while striking out 10 Monarchs, but was victimized by some errors that resulted in six unearned runs.  Relief pitchers JJ CoatesJackson Torsey, and Cole Tremain combined for four hitless innings and shut out the Monarchs until the Falcons put together their winning rally.
