Hawks Draw on the Road

Pittsburg, California. The Lady Hawks traveled to Pittsburg to take on Los Medanos College in a vital non-conference match.

Lady Hawks draw back to back matches as they tie 1-1 on the road Tuesday afternoon. Los Medanos came out fast and strong. They were a physical team who competed for everything. A playoff hopeful, Los Medanos got out to an early led when they scored on a corner kick. The goal got a reaction from The Lady Hawks as they slowly took control of the match from that point on. There hard work was rewarded in the 34th minute when sophomore Kathryn Rocha served a ball into sophomore Nariyah O'Brien who settled it and hit a left footed laser into the back of the net from 25 yards out.

As the 2nd half kicked off the Lady Hawks continued controlling the run of the game. They created many chances, and the Los Medanos goalkeeper came up with big saves. None bigger than the save that was made against freshmen Katherine Smith, who went up for a ball served in by freshmen Abby Sabedra. Katherine Smith headed the corner, and the Los Medanos keeper made a great reaction save to keep the match tied. The Lady Hawks had many more chances in the game but could not get the 2nd goal they wanted.

Next up for the 2-2-2 Lady Hawks is a road trip on Friday to defending state champions Hartnell Panthers. The Lady Hawks look forward to taking on the challenge and testing themselves.
