Taking on two-time defending CCCAA State Champion Santiago Canyon College in their home opener on Tuesday, the Cerritos College women's soccer team were shut out, 6-0. The Falcons (0-3-0), who are still looking for their first goal of the season, will travel north to take on San Francisco City College at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday.
Although the Hawks were able to get on the board six times, the Falcon defense did a good job at times turning them away from adding to their total. Racing back to strip the ball away several times were Valeria Becerra (La Serna HS) and Celeste Dominguez (Downey HS), while Giselle Ramirez (Smidt Tech HS) and Vanessa Quintanar (California HS/East Los Angeles College) also turned Santiago Canyon away more than once.
The goalkeeping duo of Anahi De Leon (Lynwood HS/East Los Angeles College) and Cassandra Contreras (Hacienda Heights Wilson HS) combined for nine saves, while the Falcons recorded just one second half shot on goal by freshman Jaque Adame (North HS).
