WOMEN’S WATER POLO: SANTIS BACK-TO-BACK OEC MVP

The Fullerton Hornets collected honors all around after finishing the season as Orange Empire Conference Champions. 6 Hornets were named to OEC's All-Conference teams, led by MVP Bryanna Santis.

Coach Gabriel Martinez took home his fourth OEC Coach of the Year Award in 2019, winning previously in 2014, 2016, and 2018.

Santis was named the Co-MVP of the OEC, making her the first in FC's program to earn the MVP honor in two consecutive seasons. She scored 4 goals, had 10 assists, and collected 8 steals in 5 conference games.

Alongside Santis, three other Hornets joined her in the OEC's First Team All-Conference. Sophomore Abigail Nunez, sophomore Alexandra Lopez, and freshman Kelly Doherty earned the honors.

In 7 conference games, Abigail Nunez had 17 goals, 8 assists, and 18 steals.

Alexandra Lopez contributed heavily, providing 17 goals, 11 assists, and 9 steals in 7 conference games.

Kelly Doherty provided tremendous value to her team with 19 goals, 7 assists, and an outstanding 17 steals.

Fullerton's Second Team All-Conference featured two more crucial members of their roster in sophomores Briana Portales and Tatiana Cava.

Briana Portales played in 7 conference games and scored 4 goals while dishing out 5 assists.

Tatiana Cava played in 24 quarters of conference play during the season. She allowed only 37 goals while racking up 58 total saves.

Diana Levias amd Charley Jackson were named Honorable Mention.

Coach Martinez and the Hornets will advance to the CCCAA State Championship Tournament this weekend.

Up Next: No. 1 (South) Fullerton takes on No. 2 (North) Sierra College on Friday, November 22nd at 11:45am at Golden West College in the semi-final game of the CCCAA State Tournament.
