West sweeps Barstow taking the doubleheader
Culver City, CA:  The West LA baseball team got off to a great start by sweeping Barstow College in a doubleheader on Saturday at Wildcat Field. The 'Cats took game one, 8-5, and then won game two, 5-0 in a shutout. WEST moved their record up to 3-6.

West scored the first run in the bottom of the first after Dominic Haynes base hit to center, scored the DH George Eaves, who had walked. Barstow was
able to get one back, in the top of the 2nd, but the Wildcats regained the lead on an RBI single by James Roque. A five run fifth, put the game out of reach for Barstow. In the inning, Julian Huerta scored on Anthony Angel's triple to the left field gap. With two outs, Eaves infield single would score Angel. Dominic Haynes would give WEST it's second triple of the inning to score Eaves and the right fielder James Roque. Haynes would come around to score on a wild pitch. Zach Diiullo came on in the bottom of the 7th to secure a 8-5 victory, after pitching a scoreless inning. Alfonso Cano went six strong innings to get his first win of his collegiate career. Cano gave up 5 hits in 6 innings, striking out out 4.

Head Coach Murphy Su'a handed the ball to Sam Wilson for game two of the twinbill. The former Palos Verdes Estates right hander did not disappoint. Wilson would take a no hitter into the 7th. After striking out the BCC pinch hitter to start of the inning, Wilson gave up his only hit of the day.  Wilson fanned seven to go along with just one hit.The former Dorsey Don, Carlos Jacob, finished off the Viking with a scoreless 2/3 innings. Nathan Nykaza went 3 for 3 with one RBI. Dominic Haynes and Cannon King both had RBI for the 'Cats. 
The win improves WEST to 3-6 on the young season, as they prepare to face Ventura College on Thursday.
