JOHNSON RECORDS HAT TRICK IN WIN OVER DE ANZA

REDDING, Calif. – Shasta College went 1-2 last week, beating De Anza College 5-1 before losing to Cabrillo 3-0 and Chabot 2-0.

In the win, the Knights jumped out to a 3-0 lead at halftime with Gabrielle Johnson scoring twice in the first nine minutes. Alexis Highfill, who assisted the second Johnson goal, also scored in the 7th minute and in the 55th minute. Johnson added another in the 57th minute to complete the hat trick. Megan Thompson had a pair of assists and Jenna Monahan recorded an assist. The Knights' Bethany Sather had four saves in goal and Emily Porter had one save in 20 minutes as the goalkeeper.

In the loss to Cabrillo, Shasta managed only two shots while Sather stopped 17 shots in the match.

Against Chabot, the Knights allowed two first half goals but played stingy the rest of the way. Sather had two saves and allowed two goals in 80 minutes in net while Porter saw action at goalkeeper as well.

Shasta College is 2-4 overall and hosts Napa Valley Friday at 4 p.m. in its final non-conference match of the year.
