Falcons strand 15 in loss to Contra Costa

A day afer defeating the Comets 8-3 in San Pablo, the Falcons could not get the offense going in a 5-2 loss to Contra Costa at Falcon Field on Friday.  Despite collecting 10 hits, the Falcons failed to get the timely hit or extra base knock they were seeking and finished with 15 runners left on base.  In fact, the Falcons' only runs were scored on a wild pitch in the fifth and an error in the seventh.  Falcon starter Hunter Hayes pitched well enough to win, going six innings while allowing just one run, but didn't get the offwnsive support to back up his efforts.

The Falcons will open Big 8 play on Tuesday against Sac City at Falcon Field.
