SHASTA BASEBALL SWEPT BY CANADA COLLEGE

REDWOOD CITY, Calif. – Shasta College's baseball team lost four games on the week, falling to Folsom Lake 15-12 before being swept in a three-game series against Cañada College 4-3, 6-2, 15-11.

Folsom Lake 15, Shasta 12
Five Shasta players had multi-hit games: Jude Marquez was 2 for 5 with a double and an RBI, Keanu Mizuta was 2 for 5 with an RBI, Stephen Nelson was 2 for 4 with a double and three runs, Hayes Edens was 2 for 4 with a double and three runs and Noah Weaver was 2 for 5 with a triple and four RBIs. Jay Mendez allowed five runs – three earned – on seven hits in two innings to take the loss.

Cañada 4, Shasta 3
The Colts walked-off with a single to center field in the ninth inning to win. Mizuta was 2 for 4 with a solo home run, Nelson was 1 for 4 with a double and a run, Edens was 1 for 3 with a run and Weaver had a double. Alex Alvarez struck out one and walked two while allowing one earned run on three hits in six innings but didn't factor into the decision. Jeremy Carroll-Schneider took the loss in the final 2.2 innings of relief.

Cañada 6, Shasta 2
The Colts used a four-run fifth to pull away. Shea Bowen was 2 for 3 with a double and two runs, Hunter Pinkston was 2 for 4 and Nelson had a pair of RBIs. Cade Jacobson gave up four earned runs on five hits in four innings and Gavin Guard allowed two runs on four hits in four innings.

Cañada 15, Shasta 11
The Knights racked up 15 hits and had four players with multi-hit games: Hunter Pinkston was 3 for 6 with a double and four RBIs, Marquez was 2 for 5 with a home run and two runs, Bowen was 2 for 4 with a double and an RBI, Nelson was 2 for 4 with a double and three RBIs and Edens hit a solo home run.
