Even before their 60-57 loss to Los Angeles Southwest College on Friday, the Cerritos College men's basketball team had already clinched at least a share of the South Coast Conference South Division title. The Falcons (19-9, 8-2) had also won 14 of their last 15 games before suffering the setback. The only damaging aspect of the loss is that it will affect their seeding for the upcoming Southern California Regional Playoffs. The seeding will be announced on Monday morning.

With the first half going back and forth, Cerritos eventually worked their way back from a 38-32 halftime deficit. They struggled from the field and connected on only 31% of their shots. By contrast, the Cougars made 50% of their field goals and netted 7-of-10 from three-point range.

Freshman Jaishon Forte (Rancho Verde HS) posted a double-double on the night with 15 points and 10 rebounds, while also dishing out three assists, with sophomore Jacob Washington (Washington Prep HS/Los Angeles Harbor College) posting 10 points and eight caroms. No other Falcon would post double figures in scoring, with freshman Dorian Harris (Cerritos HS) recording eight points, while sophomore Jeremiah Galang (Narbonne HS) converted a pair of three-pointers to account for his six points.

Normally a strong bench team, Cerritos only received 11 points, but did get 14 of their 38 rebounds from their subs.
